Terms of Service
Effective 18 October 2026
These terms govern your use of Paperatus, operated by Utilitas AB, registration number 556912-9116, Martebogatan 22, 168 61 Bromma, Sweden. Contact: support@paperatus.com. By creating an account or using Paperatus, you agree to these terms. If you use it for an organization, you must have authority to act for that organization.
The service
Paperatus helps you find and organize literature, develop and revise manuscripts, work with collaborators, and prepare submission materials. The features and allowances included in each plan are described on the pricing page and at checkout. Some functions depend on external services, your own provider account, or a compatible journal workflow.
AI output can contain incorrect claims, fabricated or unsuitable references, calculation errors and omissions. You must check the work, its sources, permissions and journal requirements before relying on it. You remain responsible for authorship, originality, research ethics, disclosures, coauthor approval and the final content. Paperatus does not guarantee publication, journal acceptance or that a manuscript satisfies a publisher's rules.
Preparing a package or filling a form is not proof of submission. You must review the destination and final materials and explicitly authorize any action that sends or submits them. Follow the journal's confirmation process to establish receipt. Do not instruct Paperatus to make false author declarations or submit work without the necessary approvals.
Your account and material
Keep your account secure and use only connections you are authorized to use. Tell us if you suspect unauthorized access. You must have the rights and permissions needed to upload, process and share material, including personal information and third-party literature. Do not use Paperatus for unlawful conduct, infringement, deception, abusive automation or interference with the service.
As between you and Utilitas AB, you retain your rights in your material. You give us permission to host, process, transmit and display it to provide the functions you request, including to selected service providers and authorized collaborators. Publishing or sending material makes it available to the selected audience. Third-party material remains subject to its own rights. AI output may not be unique or eligible for copyright protection.
We own or license the application and its branding. These terms allow you to use the service; they do not transfer ownership of the software to you.
Plans, payments and connected providers
Paddle is the merchant of record and authorized reseller for paid purchases. Its Buyer Terms govern the payment transaction; these terms govern your use of Paperatus. Checkout states the price, currency, taxes, billing interval and recurring terms before purchase. The plan details explain included usage and any allowance limits.
A Paperatus subscription does not grant a separate subscription to an AI provider. A connection to your own provider requires a valid account and permitted use under that provider's terms. Availability, limits and charges of that provider remain separate. Only supported, authorized connections are offered; an unavailable connection is not a promise of future access.
Recurring subscriptions renew until cancelled. Use the subscription-management link provided with your purchase, the available billing controls in Paperatus, or Paddle support to cancel. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid billing period. Refunds and statutory withdrawal rights are explained in our Refund Policy.
Availability and changes
We work to maintain the service, but interruptions, faults and changes in third-party availability can occur. Keep independent copies of important work using the available exports. We may update features and correct errors. For a material change affecting a paid service or these terms, we will give notice and explain available choices as required by applicable law.
We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address unlawful use, a serious breach of these terms, non-payment or a security incident. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and allow you to resolve it. You can stop using Paperatus and request account deletion; deleting an account and cancelling a paid subscription are separate actions, so ensure the subscription is cancelled too.
Responsibility and disputes
Each party remains responsible for its obligations under applicable law. Nothing in these terms removes mandatory consumer rights or excludes liability where doing so would be unlawful. Problems with the service can be reported to support@paperatus.com; payment issues can also be raised with Paddle.
Swedish law governs these terms, without taking away any mandatory protections you have in your country of residence. These terms do not restrict a consumer's right to bring a claim before a court available under applicable law. Paddle's transaction terms govern its separate relationship with you.
